Biography
James is a Melbourne-based specialist interventional radiologist (IR). He earned his MD from the University of Melbourne in 2014, gaining experience at St Vincent’s Hospital, the Alfred, and Peninsula Health before completing radiology training at Monash Health. His early exposure to surgical and critical care provided him with a unique perspective across a broad range of conditions.
He pursued intensive fellowship training in IR at Monash Health, followed by Eastern Health, further refining his expertise in minimally invasive procedures. James has been awarded the Certificate of Distinction for outstanding performance on the EBIR exam; an internationally recognised qualification in the practice of high-quality IR.
During his fellowships, he underwent extensive training in specialist endovascular and image-guided procedures, as well as clinical interventional radiology. His expertise includes ablation, embolisation, vascular disease, vascular malformations, and emergency IR. James is dedicated to delivering world-class minimally invasive procedures and clinical care, having performed over 2,000 image-guided procedures, including more than 500 angiograms and 500 venous interventions.
Since the 1950s, interventional radiologists have pioneered cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatments. James is committed to advancing medical practice by staying up to date with emerging technologies and techniques while contributing to the growing body of literature that enhances our understanding of disease and treatment. He has presented original research at multiple interventional radiology conferences and plays an active role in multidisciplinary discussions to ensure the best possible options for his patients.
